Rice mill capacity should describe paddy input per hour under stated conditions. Do not confuse it with finished-rice output or assume a rated figure is sustainable all day.
Start with daily demand
Divide daily paddy volume by productive working hours. Productive hours exclude cleaning, loading, adjustment and stops. Add a separate reserve for peaks instead of assuming a machine always runs at full rating.
A practical example
For 5,000 kg of paddy per day, 10 scheduled hours and 80% utilization, productive time is 8 hours. The minimum throughput is 625 kg/h. A planning reserve above this minimum provides room for variability; it is not a guarantee that a particular N90 will meet the requirement.
Measure actual output
Weigh the paddy processed during a representative timed run, note downtime, and record moisture and finished-rice quality. Compare machines on the same input basis. A faster run with unacceptable breakage is not necessarily better performance.
Check the full workflow
Cleaning, feeding, discharge, bagging and operator availability can limit a mill even when its chamber has enough capacity. Power interruptions and changeovers also reduce productive hours.
