Independent N90 Rice Mill Operation Guide

Independent N90 operation and maintenance guidance: pre-start checks, paddy preparation, safe operation and shutdown. Includes print support.

Important: This is a general independent guide, not the official manual for every N90 machine.

N90 machines can differ by manufacturer and configuration. Always follow the safety and operating instructions supplied with your specific machine where available.

Before starting

Check:

  • machine is securely installed
  • covers and guards are in position
  • belt condition
  • visible bolts and fasteners
  • electrical connections
  • unusual loose components
  • milling chamber is clear

Do not place hands inside the machine while power is connected.

Check the paddy

Before milling:

  • remove foreign material
  • avoid mixing very different rice varieties
  • check moisture
  • inspect for cracked or damaged grain

IRRI identifies paddy condition and moisture as major contributors to milling quality and recommends approximately 13–14% moisture for milling.

Starting the machine

  1. Ensure the machine is unloaded where required by the specific configuration.
  2. Start the drive system.
  3. Listen for unusual vibration or noise.
  4. Begin feeding paddy gradually.
  5. Observe output before increasing feed.

Do not immediately run maximum feed on an unfamiliar machine.

During operation

Watch:

  • output quality
  • broken rice
  • husk remaining in output
  • motor loading
  • vibration
  • sound
  • feed consistency

A sudden change may indicate:

  • blockage
  • slipping belt
  • worn component
  • bearing problem
  • improper adjustment

After operation

  • stop paddy feed
  • allow remaining product to clear where appropriate
  • disconnect power before inspection
  • clean accessible dust and residues
  • inspect obvious wear areas

Maintenance

Create your own log recording:

  • date
  • operating hours
  • parts replaced
  • observed capacity
  • problems
  • repair cost

This is much more useful than repairing only after failure.
